The three-year GENDER-NET project brings together a well-balanced partnership of 13 programme owners and managers from 12 countries in Europe and North America, which share a top-level commitment to the promotion of gender equality in research institutions and/or to improving the integration of the gender dimension in research contents and programmes.

The beneficiaries include :

4 Ministries (France, Spain, Slovenia, Israel) and 1 State Secretariat (Switzerland)

7 National research organisations, agencies, authorities, councils, academies or foundations (France, Norway, Ireland, Belgium, Cyprus, Canada, US)

1 National charity organisation (UK)

In addition, 10 key organisations – 2 in Germany, 1 in Canada, 2 in Austria, 2 in Norway, 1 in USA, 1 in Iceland and 1 in the Czech Republic – follow the GENDER-NET scheme as non-funded Observers.

The project also receives advice from an international Expert Advisory Board.

As illustrated on the map below, the partners and observers cover different geographical locations and types of countries:

  • Western EU member states: France, Spain, Belgium, and island member states Ireland and the UK, as well as Germany as observer ;
  • Two more recent-entry EU member states: Slovenia from central Europe, and island state Cyprus from Eastern Europe ;
  • Associated countries: Norway from the Nordic countries and Switzerland from continental Europe, as well as Israel ;
  • Two non-European countries: Canada and the United States of America.
